Frequently
Asked
Solar Electric System Questions

What is the right location
for my system?
A well-designed solar electric system needs a clear roof exposure to the sun’s
rays. Trees, roof gables, chimneys, buildings and other features of a home
or landscape may block the modules from the sun and limit the system capacity.
System orientation affects performance
and a south facing roof is best. However, those roofs
facing east or west are also possible candidates.
How much space is needed
for my system?
A typical home would need approximately 400 square feet of roof area to accommodate
the solar electric modules. Since the solar electric modules are interconnected;
the exact number of modules can be adjusted to the size of the available roof
area and/or your electric load.
Will the solar electric installation
affect my roof?
No, the shading provided by the modules on the roofing will actually increase
the life of the roof. If your roof will need replacement in the near future,
we strongly recommend that the replacement coincide with the solar electric
installation.
What kind of savings will
my system provide?
In general, the systems will reduce a typical electric bill by 70-80%. We calculate
the savings for your home based on system size and orientation. Savings estimates
are average savings over several years, since year to year production will
fluctuate due to weather and climate variations.
